Karowa Gallery was founded in 1998.

It is located in adapted arcade of centenary overpass designed by Stefan Szyller. Three-cornered interior with spectacular front window harmonizes perfectly with Secessionist Neo-Renaissance architectural structure of the beginning of XX century.

The Gallery have opened its doors with an exhibition of paintings by Jaroslaw Modzelewski, one of the most important polish artists of 1980ies and the cofounder of legendary  “Gruppa” art group. In this unique location you could have witness  exhibitions of such ditinguished artists as Ryszard Wniiarski and Jerzy Truszkowski with their „ Magnetism of squares” or Jerzy Mierzejewski with his ”Paintings and drawings” and many other artistic events as: „Karowa Film and Theater”- an exhibition of works and films by Tadeusz Kantor, Jerzy Skolimowski and Andrzej Wajda,  “A year has passed” an exhibition of photography documenting 365 days of life of Tomek Sikora, “ Last battle of Grunwald”- a happening of Lodz Kaliska art group on the occasion of 20th anniversary of groups origin. During latter event Andrzej Świetlik have captured numerous spectators standing on the hill outside the gallery in a photo which has been a pastiche of a famous painting “ The Battle of Grunwald” by Jan Matejko.

Karowa Gallery presents various movements in modern art. It focuses on paintings and graphics but it does not close on other areas of expression. Among the artists contributing are such outstanding and fertile creators of young generation as: Aleksandra Bujnowska, Jan Dziaczkowski, Barbara Gebczak, Karolina Komorowska, Rafal Kowalski, Maciej Kozlowski, Ewa Sycha, Slawomir Toman, Aleksandra Waliszewska, and also exponents of polish painting which have, over the decades, developed their own unique style and whose works are frequent in numerous museum collections for example: Tomasz Tatarczyk, Jaroslaw Modzelewski, Ryszard Grzyb, Edward Dwurnik, Michal Zaborowski.

We welcome artist and custodian to cooperate.
